Description: AUSTRALIA: 1911 Post Office Design Competition Cockatoo/Boomerang/Platypus within Lyrebird Feathers essay by ET Luke, stamp-size undenominated proofs printed in blue, yellow-orange (closed tear at lower-left), violet & green ACSC #E112A-D, and with 'ONE PENNY' Added in rose-carmine #E112F (with 'HO' part-papermaker's watermark), the first on stout paper, the others on thin paper, Cat $7500. Ex Derrick Ray. Separate RPSofL Certificates (2004) each state "genuine, so far as we can say", which is an example of why Australian material should be expertised in Australia. [The ACSC states "All are very rare, with generally only one example recorded in any one colour". Neither the ACSC nor the relevant certificate mention the tear on the yellow-orange proof]
