Partly mounted & annotated study of Forces 'AIR MAIL LETTER CARD' forms with British types including various Blue Triangle & Greetings issues, Australian Forces in Palestine 1941-42 Christmas illustrated types including 3 different unused, various usages in Australia, with printed 'POSTAGE/1d/PAID' in Red unused (very scarce) plus used in Papua & in the Northern Territory, with 'POSTAGE PAID/12 CENTS/JOHORE' h/s in red to the sender's young sons, POW 1/- lettersheet to Germany & 6d postal card to Italy, BCOF private lettersheet with Overprints to 5/- Thin Paper, etc, generally fine to very fine. 1941 Air Mail Letter Card with printed 'POSTAGE/1d/PAID' in red at upper-right, unfolded unused & rare thus.
1941 Leek cover with largely superb oval 'MILITARY P.O./10SEP1941/DARWIN No. 4' strike in violet on 4d Koala, 'MIL PO DARWIN No 4' h/s in violet on provisional registration label (fault). Rare. PO 7/7/1941; closed 21/2/1942.
AIRGRAPHS: Partly mounted & annotated collection with British & Australian forms and envelopes plus US V-Graphs, some are illustrated, an original form SAust to Qld with 5d Ram on the reverse & 'TRANSMITTED BY ORDINARY MAIL/NO AIRGRAPH SERVICE...' h/s in violet (rare but water-stained), also several unused forms including the rare Qantas 1943 Christmas issue & a small piece of original microfilm, generally fine to very fine. AIRGRAPHS: 1943 Qantas Christmas Greetings with Kangaroo Mailman, unfolded unused. Rare: stated only two examples are recorded, the other being in the previous lot. Ex Andy Jansen. [This was obviously the inspiration for the 1944 Qantas Christmas Aerogramme]
AIRGRAPHS: 1944 original form from the Anglican Mission in Papua to New York with largely fine strike of the rare 'AIRGRAPH MAIL GPO/30JE44/QLD-AUST' cds & endorsed "NO AIRGRAPH SERVICE" which is confirmed in a postscript to the chatty letter, the reverse with 1d & 3d strip of 3 tied by two poor to fair strikes of the Airgraph cds & large boxed 'RETURNED TO SENDER/REASON ("No Service New York")' cachet, forwarded under cover, minor blemishes. LABUAN: 1945 Comforts Fund envelope (opened-out) to Sydney with 'AUST UNIT POSTAL STN/3AU45/441' (rated 1000pts by Proud) & stampless cover (soiled) with superb 'AIR FORCE PO/22SE45/234', both used at Labuan. Ex Merv Riddell.(Qty 2)
