1850-51 Sydney Views Plate IV (Circles in Centre of Stars) Yellowish Vertically Laid Paper 2d Prussian blue horizontal pair [20-21] the first stamp with Fan with Six Segments SG 35/b & both units with part-Papermaker's Watermark, large even margins with outer framelines except at the top, two very fine strikes of BN '57' of Raymond Terrace, Cat £700++. Superb! BPA Certificate (2013) states that the L/H unit has a vertical crease. However, we can't see it & we think the Committee was mesmerised by the lines in the laid paper!
1851-54 Laureates comprising 1d brick-red pair as SG 48 but a Jeffrye's Forgrery, 2d singles x4, 2d Plate I strip of 3 & 2d Plate III strip of 4, Numeral Wmk 1d x2, 2d x4 & 3d, all with full margins.
1854 Laureates with Numeral Watermark 3d yellow-green SG 87 magnificent corner single from the lower-right of the sheet, margins just touched - at lower-left - to massive with a fragment of the adjoining unit above, untidy bars cancel of Sydney.
1854 Laureates with Numeral Watermark 3d yellow-green SG 87 single with 'WACES' SG 87a, margins close to good; and horizontal strip of 3 [43-45] the second with 'WALE', margins close - at right - to large with a fragment of the adjoining unit at left, small scissor-cut between the first two units; Cat £400++. Superb! Multiples with full margins are rarely available. Paul Alcuri Certificate (1982) in German for the strip. [We find it extraordinary that Gibbons list the first variety, which is omission of a small part of one letter, but not the second, which involes the omission of the entire letter! Ironically, Paul Alcuri notes 'WALE' but not the listed 'WACES'!]
