1918 YMCA cover with header '...WITH THE/BRITISH PRISONERS OF WAR INTERNED IN HOLLAND' & a plain cover similarly inscribed, both with the Australian sender's details at lower-left & different "free mail" cachets, to NSW, minor defects; and 1918 stampless Swiss PPC to an Australian POW at Friedrichsfeld Camp with German camp censor's cachet & boxed 'F.a.' h/s (= time expired) h/s indicatin he had been repatriated. A very scarce trio.
1916 German 'Kriegsgefangenen-Sendung Englanderlager Ruhleben' postcard from Australian civilian internee Edgar Steitz to his brother in WA, 'FREIGEGEBEN/Fa/RUHLEBEN' censor cachet in red on face, London 'PAID' transit & 'LEEDERVILLE/-7NO16' arrival b/s, a few blemishes.

PRISONERS OF WAR MAIL: c.1916 POW Envelope most unusually to "Manila/Ph Island" [sic], poor arrival b/s. A very rare destination for POW mail.
PRISONERS OF WAR MAIL: c.1916 POW Envelope to Amsterdam with light strike of the British oval 'PRISONER OF WAR/REPATRIATION BUREAU' cachet at lower-left, on arrival redirected to "Utrecht", minor soiling. Scarce destination for POW mail.
PRISONERS OF WAR MAIL: 1916 POW Envelope with printed 'POST/FREE'-in-Double-Circle & 'SENDER'S NAME AND ADDRESS' on the flap (Emery #PSPE1), to Queensland with 'LIVERPOOL/3MR16/=NSW=' cds but with the address crossed-through indicating "stopped" by the censor, a few blemishes & a piece of the flap missing. A very scarce usage of a rare postal stationery item. [Usually, offending parts of a letter were obliterated or excised. However, occasionally the content of a letter was considered so offensive or treasonous that it was returned to the sender]
PRISONERS OF WAR MAIL: 1916 POW Envelope to Queensland with superb strike of the rare sans serif 'CENSORED/DETENTION BARRACKS/TRIAL BAY NSW' cachet (very early usage) in blue, 'LIVERPOOL/2SE16/=NSW=' cds & Lt-Col Sands cachet in violet, slightly reduced at left.

With the complete 'OPENED BY/CENSOR' label removed to expose the cachet.
