LETTERCARDS - MILITARY: 1916 (March) 1d 'MILITARY LETTER CARD' with 'AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE' at the Base on grey surfaced stock BW #LCM1, a few very minor blemishes, unused, Cat $500. [Although 50,400 were issued - to just the GPOs in Melbourne & Sydney - not a single used example is recorded!]
LETTERCARDS - MILITARY: 1916 (Oct) 1d 'MILITARY LETTER CARD' with 'A.I.F., ABROAD' at the Base on thin pale grey unsurfaced stock BW #LCM2, unused, Cat $750. Superb! [33,120 were issued, again only to Melbourne & Sydney. Again, not a single used example is recorded! Barry Scott's fine example sold for $632 at our auction of 17/2/2012]
ENVELOPES: 1979 Foundation of Hobart 20c with Dark Blue Printing (Town Hall) Omitted from the Stamp, commercially used in Adelaide & rare thus. With a normal envelope CTO for comparison.
ENVELOPES - MILITARY: 1916-19 KGV 1d red with footer 'AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE' BW #ME1 (flap stuck), 'A.I.F., ABROAD' Setting 1 with Thick & Thin Lines #ME3A (superb!) & Setting 2 with Two Thick Lines #ME4A (superb!), and 'AUSTRALIAN IMPERIAL FORCE,/ABROAD' Setting 1 with Header above Top of Stamp #ME5A (flap stuck), unused, Cat $1500. [See the ACSC at pages 267-269] (Qty 4)
ENVELOPES - MILITARY: c.1968 5c indigo on white with 'DEFENCE FORCES ENVELOPE' at upper-left, unrecorded knife with self-adhesive flap & two small side-flaps (the rear panel removed), unused. The only example known to us. Ex Phil Collas (pencil note on the reverse) & Andy Jansen. This is probably an unadopted essay. [With the normal issued envelope on buff stock with standard knife, CTO at AFPO 3 at Vung Tau, for comparison]
LETTER SHEETS - STAMPED TO ORDER: 1918 (Sep) KGV 1d red Die 1 BW #LSS5 for the Department of Defence with roneo'd recruitment letter over facsimile signature of "RM Orchard" Minister for Recruiting, the sealing flap removed but otherwise superb, 'ADELAIDE/PAID ½D - .../ELIGIBLES ENLIST' slogan cancel of 2NOV18 being effectively an uprating for payment of the War Tax, Cat $2000. [This early example of "junk mail" must have been very widely distributed but very few examples have survived]
AEROGRAMMES: Two cartons with a duplicated stock of 1980s-1990s issues including lots of Ausipex issues with postmarks for the various days, many other pictorial datestamps, Adelaide formular types prepared by Australia Post, high thematic content. The high proportion of unused issues offers a very cheap postage option. [See also Andy Jansen's Aerogrammes collection: Lots 2383 to 2422 in our separate "Postal Stationery" auction](Qty Qty)
