Batch of modern Cocos PPCs all by air to GB with various Cocos or Cocos/Australian combination frankings.
1969-72 commercial covers comprising airmail to GB at 30c & to USA at 60c, stampless OHMS to GB with superb 'POSTMASTER/COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS' d/s, and Singapore formular aerogramme printed within for the Clunies-Ross Estate to GB.
1990-91 SURCHARGES: Philatelic covers with $5 on 65c Anniversary on Cocos PPC & on cover both to GB, Shells set of six on separate covers, three values on Cocos PPC to GB, $1.20 on 15c + 45c on cover to Germany, and Department of Transport cover to ACT with 'MAINLAND' on 10c SG 234.
1990-91 SURCHARGES: 1990 (Dec 11) commercial usage to Australia of padded bag with the padding removed (265x257mm) with $5 on 65c Anniversary plus 50c $1 & $3 sent Security Post airmail to the ACT, green Customs label states "Textiles", 'MAY BE DELIVERED/POSTAL/CONTROL/PERTH/AUSTRALIAN CUSTOMS SERVICE' cachet in red. An extremely rare & unusual usage on First Day of Issue of the $5 Surcharge.
1990-91 SURCHARGES: local cover to the Cocos-Keeling Islands Yacht Club with rare franking of 1991 (1c) 'LOCAL' on 30c Shell SG 236 tied by Cocos cds of 21JAN1991 (the First Day of Issue). Ex Kim Dwyer: acquired at the Prestige auction of 8.11.2013 for $391. [The only such 1c cover we have seen]
1990-91 SURCHARGES: 1991 (Apr & Oct) commercial covers to NSW with the two different 'MAINLAND/POSTAGE PAID' overprints on 10c Shell SG 234 & 235.

We have recorded only two other covers - one a window-face type - with this stamp. Ex Kim Dwyer: acquired at the Prestige auction of 8.11.2013 for $920. [This stamp was sold to the public CTO only. We have never seen an uncancelled example]
1990-91 SURCHARGES: 1991 official cover (322x230mm) with 'ADMINISTRATION/COCOS (KEELING) ISLANDS' imprint at U/L, by air to Canada with rare franking of (43c) 'OFFICIAL PAID/MAINLAND' on 90c Coconuts SG O1 strip of 3 (Cat £270+ CTO) tied by Cocos cds of 26MAR1991. An outstanding Cocos rarity, bearing the only multiple of this stamp that we have recorded. [With a chatty letter from the editor of the local newsletter - which he enclosed - who states: "...There is a high rate of illiteracy...the number of Cocos adults who are competent in their English literacy skills is about 10..."]
(Qty 2 items)
1990-91 SURCHARGES: 1992 correctly rated but philatelic cover with $5 on 65c Anniversary plus 20c $1 $2 & $3 on airmail cover to GB with both registration & Security Post (on the reverse) labels. [Security Post cost $10 but was merely a rebadged registration service at four times the price, making it Australia Post's most extortionate price rise ever!]
1993 usage of Cocos 70c scenic Aerogramme (Palu Pandan etc; West Island) from "No 20 West Island Resort/West Island", to "Catering Squadron/RAF MPA/BFPO 655/Falkland Islands" (!), social message states "...have to get this done so it catches the mid-week flight...This is a fantastic place, plenty of beautiful...bathing beaches". A modern rarity, being the only properly used Cocos aerogramme we, or Colin Riddell, have seen.
