Bundle of EH Schrenzel (Addis Ababa) topographicals including buildings - some of impressive proportions - & ancient ruins, bridges including donkeys crossing a death-defying wooden structure, native groups including warriors & market-goers, etc, also some primitive-artist cards, some minor blemishes/aging, unused. 1920s-1930s wide-ranging array from various publishers predominantly EH Schrenzel (Addis Ababa), Maison Bertrand et Cie and Mission Catholique (Dire-Daoua), with numerous better subjects including Indigenous Portraits, Warriors, Markets, Blind Beggars, Itinerant Musicians, Steamroller, Mission Scenes etc, also some real photo types including of 1926 Steam Train & 1929 Arrival of First Flight, also some primitive-artist cards & a local advertising card for New York's Empire State Building (!!), virtually all postally used - many from Dire Daoua & Harrar - to Constantinople/Istanbul with an array of Ethiopian frankings including Overprints, variety in the transit & arrival postmarks, condition variable but generally fine to very fine. An exceptional collection, greatly enhanced by the postal history content. Ex Stepan Balian (who is pictured on the first card shown above).

ITALIAN OCCUPATION: Very scarce group with native portraits, huts & Native Tribunal, town scenes, camel trains, military headquarters etc, includes Agenzia Fotoclere "real photo" cards x15 & a couple of artist cards, all postally used to Istanbul (!) with a variety of Eritrea, Somalia & Italian East Africa frankings, condition variable but many are fine to very fine.
