122C Comb Perf 5d very dark chestnut as for the Single-Line Perf 5d BW #122C - Cat $2500 - but unlisted on the Comb Perf issue. Chris Ceremuga Certificate (2012) as "intensely dark brown (very dark chestnut) ACSC 123F". An enigmatic stamp in an undoubtedly very rare shade. [According to the ACSC, #123F exists only used] While it is obviously difficult to make colour comparisons from auction catalogues, our assessment is that this stamp is the same shade as Stuart Hardy's used perf 'OS' example of BW #123F, that sold for $22,135. It was noted there as "The only example to appear at auction in the past 30 years and arguably the rarest of all KGV shades". Chris Ceremuga states that the shade of the stamp offered here "is a little bit lighter than the so-called black-brown shade..." However, he obviously considers that it is within the #123F group. As such, it is probably the only unused example recorded.
