1851 (Aug 15) entire letter headed "Maitland" (faint b/s) to GB "By the first vessel", rare franking of Sydney View Plate II 1d (large margins) & Laureate 2d (2, both with 4 margins, one a little stained at upper-right) cancelled at Sydney & with large 'PAID SHIP LETTER/[crown]/SYDNEY' cds in red below, rated "1/-" in black, fair boxed 'PACKET LETTER' h/s in red applied at London, minor blemishes. A striking cover.
1851 (Oct 28) entire to GB "By the first vessel" with Sydney View 3d yellow-green (3 good to large margins, the right-hand side underneath the 2d) & Laureate 2d (unusually large margins, strongly suggesting that the 3d also has full margins) tied by fine BN '57' of 'RAYMOND TERRACE' (fine b/s), rated "8" in black, fair Sydney transit cds in red on face, few peripheral areas of minor discolouration.
1869 mourning covers to GB the first with Diadem 6d & DLR 4d tied by indistinct Rays '487' of 'TWO MILE FLAT' (poor cds alongside); the second with DLR 2d pair & 6d tied by light Rays '651' of 'HOME RULE' (good b/s); each with letter from an underachieiving goldminer to his sister. Interesting group.
1886 cover from GB with Lilacs & Greens 3d pair tied by 'GRANTHAM - 321' duplex, to "Cross Keys Hotel/Alwin Brook/Australia" but with 'POST TOWN/NOT KNOWN/NSW' h/s in magenta & boxed 'POST TOWN/NOT/ KNOWN IN VICTORIA' h/s both on the face.
1904 linen-lined cover (280x124mm) to France "Par Steamer Orotava" with 1d, 2d, 2½d block of 4 (rare franking) & 1/- tied by 'THE EXCHANGE' duplex, minor blemishes.
