1836 (Oct 1) front (& black-flap) with an unusually fine strike of the rare undated 'HINTON/[crown]/ N.S.W' handstamp (#C30; ERD), rated "7d" for carriage between 30 & 50 miles, GPO transit d/s, various British markings including boxed 'INDIA LETTER/DEAL' & rated "1/-" for an inwards packet letter. Rare: absent from Brian Peace's collection. PO 28/8/1835; closed 1846.
