DARWIN: 1919 Cyclone real photo card with 'Kodak' back showing Jetty with large hole between Railway Tracks & stranded Goods Wagons, annotated "The Darwin Jetty after the Cyclone 1919 £3000 worth Damage June 23/6/19" on back, unused, condition fine.
1929 real photo cards of the "Cape Don Disaster" 1) the Vickers "Velore" from behind; 2) aborigines & the plane missing its propellor & housing; and 3) the plane's engine on a railway bogey, presumably in Darwin, Jack Buscall handstamp on the address side, unused. [The AAMC states the plane, en route from England, crashed at Cape Don & was wrecked. Cape Don is on the Cobourg Peninsula in the far north of the Territory. The lighthouse there is the most northerly in Australia]
1930 (May) series of real photo cards of the British aviatrix Amy Johnson landing at Darwin Airport & with various local dignitaries, pencil notations on the address side, most with corner adhesions on the address side otherwise very fine unused. [Amy Johnson left England 5.5.1930 & arrived at Darwin 24.5.1930, becoming the first woman to fly from England to Australia]
1931 real photo cards of Charles Kingsford Smith and Captain Matthews landing at Darwin, planes of Kingsford Smith & Captain Matthews on the landing strip, crowd arround Matthews' plane, Matthews with two locals (and two other cards unfortunately a bit cut-down), & PPC-size photo of locals with Scott's plane, pencil notations on the address side, unused.
