1953-1992 mint collection with high degree of completion including 1953-70 long sets, 1954 Officials, Health M/Ss, decimals (1980 onwards **) including M/Ss & booklets. Generally fine condition. (Qty 100s)
"The Chalons from Hell" comprising imperf (14) & perf (6) nasties with all manner of faults. Spacefillers for the desperate! (Qty 20)
Collection in Scott album with mint including KEVII set, KGV most values to 1/-, Peace, Dunedin, 2/- Admiral, 1935 & 1936 Pictorials, then virtually complete to the mid-1980s & some later issues with some being unmounted, used including KEVII set, Peace, set Auckland 3d, lots of later material, Health issues complete mint or used plus M/Ss mostly mint (many unmounted) but 1957 & 1958 used, generally fine. "Back of Book" collection with Postage Dues including all sets simplified mint; good lot of Officials with mint 1907-11 1/- 2/- (2, one used) & 5/-, KEVII set, QV 2/-, KGV set, 2/- Admiral, 1936-61 Pictorials, Centennial & QE complete; Lighthouses 1891 set fine used, 1913-37 apparently complete mint &/or used; a few Newspaper & Railway Stamps used; Ross Dependency issues; a generally fine lot. Attractive old-time collection to 1958 including a nice group of Second Sidefaces, handy Pictorials, Christchurch to 3d, KEVII (2 sets), Peace, Admirals, Arms including 7/6d 12/6d £3 & £4 all with postal cancels, Officials including 2/- Pictorial and QV 2/- & 5/- etc, generally fine to very fine but with a 5/- Sideface that must be the worst example in existence!!; also duplicates in packets & a small stockbook including some Chalons and lots of Second Sidefaces; finally a group of indifferent covers including a Dunedin Exhibition Letter Card (faults). 1855 Chalons 1/- imperforate plate proof in black on thin card, margins clear to large. [NB: this is from the original 1855 printing and not from the much later Hausberg reprints]
1855-57 Blue Paper 1d red SG 4 with part-papermaker's watermark, cut very close but not into the design, untidy cancel, Cat £1800+. [See footnote after SG 6]
1857-71 Chalons selection on Hagners with Imperf (26, plus 1d forgery) & Perf (56, plus 6d forgery) issues, many attractive stamps & a few unused, condition is rather mixed so close inspection is strongly recommended. High catalogue value. [See complete scans on our website] (Qty 84)
1871 Large Star 1d brown (Worn Plate) SG 132a, unused; and 2d orange SG 160, large-part o.g.; Cat £350. (Qty 2)
1872 No Watermark 4d orange-yellow with Watermark of Double-Lined Letters SG 139a, characteristic rough perfs, large-part o.g., Cat £275. An unusually fine example of this underrated variety.
1873-92 Newspaper ½d Wmk 'NZ', No Wmk, Wmk Star & Wmk NZ/Star between SG 143 & 151, all with large-part o.g., plus used examples of each, centring typically all over the shop, Cat £400+ minimum. (Qty 8)
1874-1900 Sidefaces selection on Hagners with First Sidefaces mint 2d single & pair, 1/- & 2/-, and used including 1/- (2) & 2/-; Second Sidefaces mint ½d, 1d (2, one with "Ellipse" Flaw), 2d (3), 3d (2), 4d, 5d, 6d (2), 8d & 1/- (2), and used to 1/- (3); also with Advertisements on the Reverse comprising 1d (14, one in blue), 2d (6), 2½d (3), 3d (5), 4d (2), 5d, 6d & 1/- (2); condition a bit mixed, high catalogue value. 1953-2006 comprehensive mint collection in four Seven Seas albums with better including 1958 2d on 1½d "Stars" ** (1984 BPA Certificate) plus many extras including FDCs and commemorative covers, M/Ss, coil strips, booklet panes and cinderellas, also a little back-of-book including Ross Dependency. Stamps are mounted to 1972, thereafter mostly unmounted with high face in the modern decimal issues. (Qty 100s)
1996 Health (Teddy Bear) M/S as SG MS2002 but from the original printing with the Teddy Bear & Baby Facing Forwards, unmounted, STC €12,000. See Gibbons' footnote. Unlisted by Campbell Patterson. [The design caused an outcry because the baby should have been facing the rear of the car to comply with safety regulations. The stamps were immediately withdrawn & redesigned. However, some were released "in error". According to our sources, the original M/Ss had been distributed by the printers, Enschedé in the Netherlands, to their staff before the recall was announced]
1996 Health ditto, but incorporating the Capex 96 logo at lower-right, unmounted, STC €12,000.
Booklets: 1960-2006 comprehensive collection including 1990s-2000s "Prestige" types, in three albums, many duplicated. Painfully high face value. (Qty 100s)
