A B1

1907 Small 'Papua' Overprints Watermark Horizontal Thick Paper d black & yellow-green SG 34 marginal example from right of the sheet. A rare stamp: not priced in Gibbons. Ex Fred Pearson: acquired for $604 at our auction of 4/3/2006. [Absent from both the Rybak and Troy collections]

*

A B1

1907 Small \'Papua\' Overprints Watermark Horizontal Thin Paper 2d black & ultramarine SG 35a & 2d black & dull blue SG 35ac, well centred, lightly to very lightly mounted, undercatalogued at 220 (+ SG 35a). The 2d dull blue is an underrated stamp, most examples offered being wrongly identified. [Peter Troy\'s examples of SG 35a & 35ac sold for $977] [** There is a vacuous comment in the catalogue suggesting that SG 35a might not be "thin enough". If it\'s not SG 35a, then it must be SG 35 which is a great rarity. And it\'s NOT SG 35 **]

500.00T

$700.00T

443

*

B A1

1907 Small 'Papua' Watermark Horizontal Thick Paper 2/6d black & brown SG 37 with the Overprint Misplaced 10mm to the Left (and on a slight diagonal) lower-right corner block of 9, exceptional centring especially for a block of this size, minor perf reinforcing, minor all-over gum-toning doesn't detract from the fine facial appearance, Cat 360++. An unusual variety.

500.00T

$1,600.00T

*

A B1

1907-10 Large 'PAPUA' 2/6d black & brown Type A with the rare 'POSTAGIE' variety SG 48a, well centred, undercatalogued at 550.

This is an underrated variety. Only 136 sheets were printed, on which basis alone this variety must be very scarce. However, the flaw developed during the printing and therefore did not occur on all sheets. Absent from both the Rybak & Troy collections. Tony Williams' (no relation to our current vandor!) very fine mint example sold for $1610 at our auction of 24/4/2009. [Note that all stamps from Pos 5 have a White Diagonal Hairline at Upper-Right]

1000.00T

$2,200.00T
