Partly mounted & annotated range including paddle steamers x2, Adelaide Hospitals x10 & John Martin's Department Store's famous Christmas Cards x28 including for 1912 1913 1915 1917 & 1919, some attractive topographicals, etc, condition variable but generally fine to very fine. Ex Joe Duif.

A few Adelaide including "Bowling Green", "A Fire Alarm - Racing to the Scene", "Japanese Men-of-War's Men", Niven 1910 advertising calendar card for Holland's Levers, Opening of Electric Tram Service x2, "Express Train with Mails for London", also "Convalescent Home Auchendarroch", "Tiparra Lighthouse" (on stilts, in Moonta Bay), etc, generally fine to very fine. 1908 usage of South Australian "stamps" PPC for Sanatoria Home for Consumptive Women, used in NSW. Rare.
1909 real photo "Survivors Clan Ranald Wreck 31.1.09", unused. Ex Bronte Watts. [This was one of the worst shipwrecks in South Australian waters. Six Europeans - including the captain - & 34 crew members died. The 20 surviving seaman - all of various Asian origins - fell foul of Australia's then official "White Australia" policy; they were seized, handprinted & deported!]
1950 c. (?) Government Publicity & Tourist Bureau complete set of advice cards in brownish black, three feature trams, unused, Very scarce.
ADVERTISING: Collection of advertising cards for South Australian businesses or agents of out-of-State firms including hotels, retailers, manufacturers, importers, general stores, theatre productions, Viceroy Tea set of 6 aerial views of "Adelaide from a Balloon" etc, mostly Adelaide firms but some suburban and country users including from Gawler, Quorn & Port Lincoln, condition rather mixed but many are fine to very fine. ADVERTISING: the companion lot of beautifully produced FW Niven cards for South Australian firms including breweries, retailers, dispensing chemist, orchards including AE Pitt x7, Walter & Morris Timber Yards x2, RJ Coombs Wool Store x2, Prince Alfred College, Flinders Street Baptist Church, etc, condition rather mixed but many are fine to very fine. CHURCHES: Mounted group with St Peter's Cathedral North Adelaide x8, many other fine structures but also many small churches including real photo type of the weatherboard building at Rosewater, multi-views of "Church of Christ Grote St" & "Churches of Pt Pirie", real photo commemoratives "Bethany Church Jubilee 1833-1933" & "1861-1911 Goolwa Methodist Jubilee", etc, generally fine to very fine. EDUCATION: Mounted group with school buildings including "St Peter's College", real photos of Federation Celebrations x2, "Robe School Band" (10 fifes & a drum) & school/class photos x25 (mostly real photos & mostly identified) etc, generally fine to very fine. Ex Bronte Watts. An unusual lot.
EVENTS & PROCESSIONS: Fascinating historical group including "Unveiling Light Statue", "Varsity students procession", "Opening of South Australian Parliament", "8 Hours Procession", "Imperial Place on Race-days...How long will citizens of SA tolerate this Public Scandal?", many real photos including Armistice Day x2, Peace Proclamation x2, Visit of Prince of Wales x2, Adelaide Brass Bands x6 & "Harrold Colton Fire Feb 5 1907" x5, etc, also 1908 & 1939 Record Heatwave cards, etc, generally fine to very fine. MILITARY - WORLD WAR ONE: 1916 real photo of Mitcham Military Camp (SA) featuring dozens of tents, chopping wood, underground oven & a group of bare-chested soldiers on a makeshift raft, a couple of minor inkspots, used under cover. One of the most appealing WWI Military Camp cards we have seen. Ex Bronte Watts. [The writer, Sapper WW Evans, says "...Tell me which you think is me..."]
POST OFFICES: Excellent mounted collection with GPO x8, many from major towns but also some tiny hamlets including Dublin, Meningie, Fowlers Bay, Langhornes Creek, Callington, Curramulka, Blyth & Geranium, most are straightforward views but we also noted many are real photo types including transferring mail between a railway TPO & early automobile, Easter Sunday at Wirrabarra, Anzac Day (?) at Freeling, "Official opening Athelstone June 1909", the tiny horse-drawn railway van that carried mail between Port Broughton & Mundoora, floods at Border Town & Renmark, mail coach at Moorook, etc, condition a bit variable but many are fine to very fine.
