Reprinted designs 1848 "Art Union Journal" complete page (222x287mm) with oval 'PAID' embossing in rose, 'PRINCIPLE SUGGESTED/BAUFORT HOUSE' designs in red & blue or blue, and an engine-turning with 'VR' Monogram in blue all within a colourless embossed "lace" framework; plus, on the reverse, a green red & white panel (147x96mm) inscribed 'CHARLES WHITING/.../FOR PROTECTION AGAINST/FORGERY'. A remarkably fine example of this attractive page: the paper is very porous & was susceptible to foxing, of which none is present on this example.
Reprinted designs by Charles Whiting 1) oval 'PAID' embossing in rose on stout wove paper; and 2) oval 'V [crown] R/POST OFFICE/1D/HALF OZ' embossing in blue cut-to-shape & affixed to a piece of thin card.
