1857-59 Hillman Lithographs 6d grey-black SG 19, good even margins, void-grid cancel, Cat £550. An attractive stamp.
1863 De La Rue Essay for a 1d White (!) Swan design imperforate plate proof in ultramarine on thin ungummed unwatermarked paper, reduced to stamp-size with close but complete margins. A lovely item. Ex Michael Brachi and Lord Vestey. [Presumably this design was rejected because the Colony had only black swans. Only four examples - in different colours - have been recorded]
1864-79 Crown/CC 2d imperforate colour trial in emerald-green on ungummed watermarked paper, margins close to large. Ex Lord Vestey. [The well-known series of colour trials - in which the 2d is in blue - are all on unwatermarked paper. [A similar example - slightly cut-into at the base - sold at the Prestige auction of 24/5/2008 for $3910]
1864-79 Crown/CC 6d violet with the Watermark Sideways (Crown to the Right as seen from the Face) SG 57b, well centred, characteristic irregular perfs, unused, Cat £750. [Gary Diffen advises he has recorded only five examples]
1885-93 New Designs master die proof of the design with blank value tablet on thin glazed card (92x60mm) with 'AFTER/STRIKING' & '23JAN89' handstamps, initialled to lower-right of the impression. An important proof. Ex De La Rue Archives. [This design was used for the 2½d to 1/- denominations]
1905-12 Crown/A ½d green Imperforate at Base from the last row of the upper pane BW #W4b, central thin, unused, Cat $2000 used; unpriced unused. Rare: Gary Diffen advises he has recorded only one other unused example. [The ACSC states that five [used] examples have been recorded, including three in the Western Australian Museum. A used example roughly separated at the base sold at the Prestige auction of 14/4/2005 for $4600]
1905-12 Crown/A 2d yellow with the Watermark Upright BW #W22aa (SG 140a), very well centred, a few short perfs, Fremantle cds of 2MY10, Cat $500 (£350). [The ACSC states that most sheets from this printing were surcharged 'ONE PENNY']
1905-12 Crown/A Perf 11 1d rose-pink with the Watermark Upright BW #W13B (SG 151b) marginal block of 4 from the right of the sheet, full unmounted o.g., Cat $500++ (£260++) mounted. Superb!
