PERF 14 AT SOMERSET HOUSE: 1d rose (very fine with large-part o.g.), 2d blue (pulled perf at left) & 1/- (central defect) each with sans serif 'SPECIMEN' handstamp (Samuel #GB6). Very rare. The 2d & 1/- are Ex Bill McCredie, where the 1/- was noted as a proof that was not issued.̃̃It was also suggested in the McCredie catalogue that the obvious faults affecting the 2d & 1/- were inflicted "apparently officially". This statement lacks credibility & is refuted by the very fine condition of the 1d.
