ONE PENNY: V/Crown Mixed Perfs 1d horizontal pair Perf 12.4x12.2, the vertical perfs misplaced so Re-Perforated 11 at Left & Between and with Official Paper-Strip Repairs BW #W10 (unlisted by Gibbons), separated along a scissor-cut between the units & rejoined, Northam duplex cancel of MR3/03. Unpriced in the ACSC. An exceptional rarity of the Commonwealth Period. [The ACSC states "The only example which can be traced is a used stamp in the Bromfield Collection in the WA Museum. It is punctured 'WA' and shows the Mixed Perfs at the base"]

TWO PENCE: Crown/A Perf 11 2d dull yellow BW #W23 (SG 152) marginal block of 15 (5x3) from the right of the sheet, two vertical rows of Double Perfs affecting nine units, twelve units are unmounted, Cat $900++ (570) for mounted singles plus a substantial premium for the Double Perfs. A spectacular variety that is not recorded for this issue in the ACSC. Acquired for $862 at our auction of 10/3/2007. [Almost certainly a contiguous piece to Dr Walkley's similar block - no side margin - that sold for $1150 (2005)]

[The ACSC states "A small number of sheets were printed on paper with the watermark upright". The ERD for this stamp is 30/11/1912, right at the end of the "States Period"]

However, the ACSC states "The only recorded example [of the 4d brown] without 'OS' puncture is in the WA Museum".

SIX PENCE: 1896 6d die proof in black on surfaced card (92x60mm) with handstamps '9DEC96' in blue & 'BEFORE/HARDENING' BW #W2DP(1)A, light bend clear of the stamp impression, Cat $3000. Rare: only a few have been recorded. [Although the 6d was proofed in 1896 and printed in 1897, the entire printing was held in reserve until October 1906, making this a Commonwealth-period issue. Dr Cecil Walkley's superb example sold for $2530]
